Hi There
Just a quick note to let you know that I recently recieved an answer to one of my ads in the club magazine for some spare I require via email. Originally the email address was from someone called Anita and gave an email address in Europe. Once I answered it the next email gave a yahoo email address with a home addess in London and a mobile phone number asking me to send cash for the items via paypall pluss an amount for courier delivery. Since I had already check the phone number and the address given and found them to be false I offered to pay cash when I picked them up. Gess you know what happened next, no further replies.
Please worn the other RSR members the scammers have found us. Do not send any cash in any form unless you can contact the person in question, unless the person or company are known to you.
Thanks, mike peters

Greetings
I am currently involved in restoring a 1947 P2 16.
I need crankshaft bearings (main and big end) in particular, 0.020″ undersize. Are these available in the UK.?
Unfortunately our exchange rate is terrible, making any purchase from the UK rediculously expensive. As the bearings are vital, I will just have to bite the bullet!

I.m looking for the owner of a 1937 Rover 16. Mine needs a full restoration and I don’t have much knowledge of early rovers. I need to get in touch with some one with a complete car that is willing to supply photos and advice.

For Steve Cunningham: There are more than a few experts on all matters P2 within the RSR. Our own car a 1947 Rover 16 export saloon we’ve owned since 1985 has neen pretty much refurbished/renovated reconditioned mostly by us over the last 24 years. We have many answers to many of the questions you will have with your pre-war 16. Howver my photogarphs of the rebuild in 1985-1988 are all in 35mm format and would have to be scanned to get nto a format to email to you. Your car has differences from ours but is pretty much identical as far as major removal of items is concerned, but first step for you is to purchase from the RSR a P2 wrokshop manual and a P2 parts list before you begin anything. If yu don’t subscribe to the RSR and recive the club magazine Frewheel then contact: to obtain the manuals: Mrs Anne Woollard,The Meads, Arden Meads, Hockley Heath, Solihull. West Mdlands. B94 6QN. You can place an order for the two books on the RSR website and pay by debit/credit card.
When you get to sepcifics just ask your quesions and I feel sure we or other colleagues will assist as best we can over the globe…

For Rob North:
Shells are EXTREMELY Rare and probably now all gone……..
Mke Couldrey or Mike Evans (look in Freewheel for their adresses etc) are your best bets if any still exist…. but I can tell you your best bet is to white metal your main bearing cases drectly on the crankcase and on their caps. (There is enough meat to do this effectively) As far as the 6 engine conrods and big ends are concerned, we (had to) used Ford Corsair Glacier Ref B43555A aluminium shells, part number GS 95135A available in .020in as well as all the other increments up to .060in. This was done back in 1985 when already original Rover bearing shells for the post-war P2’s were even then pretty impossible to source. Our crankshaft was reground to fit these. In 24 years of motoring they have proved reliable and we have covered in that time about 60000 km.

Thanks Tim.
I have submitted an application to join the RSR and I have ordered the manuals. I have also been trying to join the RSR forum but it keeps declining the “confirmation code”.
I can now look forward to restoring my rover with a bit of help. It appears as though this car is the only one that is registered in any of the Rover clubs in Australia, therefore my cry for help was going nowhere.

For Steve Cunningham and other RSR members,
I saw Steve has ordered manuals for his P2 Rover and they are very valuable when you restore your car.But it has cost me a lot of time to get the engine (12HP Toure) running. The problem;Pg A21 EP mark =108* before TDC,page A22 EP mark =108* after TDC.I have solved the problem.
The engine is running very smooth now.Probably more RSR members have seen this error. My manual is a second edition published 1999.
Hope other RSR members will do there advantage with remark.
Have fun with your car,Pieter Teune

Hello,
I am trying to help a friend find a car he owned some years ago.
For no other reason than he is interested where it is now.
I know it is taxed so is somewhere in the UK.
Here goes a long shot I feel.
It is a Rover 14 sports saloon.
The car was Black.
The registration is KMK 302.
If there is anyone out there that knows this car , I would be interested.
Thanks.
Pat

Rover 10 hp 1935 on ebay.
I managed to secure the purchase of the Rover 10 1935, which is a barn find and has’nt seen the light of day for quite some time, it cost me £1557.00, its complete and absolutely original, still has the coach lines visible on the bodywork.
There was a lot of interest, but I managed to secure the last bid in the closing minutes. Another to restore…whoopee !!! If anybody wants photographs please email me. Chris
